  • VALUE ADDED

what factors effect what ‘value’ we place in the objects around us, and is that value greater in some than others?

The value that designers place in objects is different to the value the audience places in these objects.

  • ESSAY TOPIC:

I have been researching further into the future of the printed object, but as it encompasses a wide range of outputs, some of which were highlighted in this earlier post it would not be possible within the restriction of the size of this essay to discuss with enough detail, so I have decided to focus on one of them in detail.

I have formulated an essay question:

‘Where does the future lie for the Printed Poster?’

    Synopsis:

‘Will you still love me tomorrow?’ Will attempt to ascertain the future of the poster, in an industry, shoe horned by clients tightening budgets and the onset of the digital tidal wave, is there still a valid argument for the once staple piece of Printed Graphic Design.

I will look at the following areas for context:

The history of the printed poster.

The factors effecting the poster today

where and why the poster still reigns

    The design process
